THE LOCKSMITH - DEBUT NOVEL
Jude doesn’t like secrets, they breed poison, but she knows her husband is hiding something from her. To uncover the truth she flees with her three young children to stay with her mysterious mother-in-law, Audra. Only Audra has secrets of her own and will stop at nothing to keep them.
The inspiration for The Locksmith came in a dream. The dream featured a broken down farm and a woman who was threatened by an older woman. I knew there were unsafe places and many locks, I also knew that the younger woman's children were in danger. The name of the story also came in the dream - The Locksmith. It wasn't until I was close to finishing the book that I understood the name was a metaphor about Jude and Audra - Audra creates locks, internal and external ones, and Jude unpicks them.
